Payroll Tax Accountant II | Aston Carter

The Tone:
This is a 12-month contract role at Aston Carter, located in Seattle, WA, though the position is fully remote. This role is crucial for supporting a highly collaborative payroll tax team, ensuring tax compliance, managing remittances, audits, reporting, and all year-end payroll activities. • Mission: Own payroll tax compliance, remittances, reporting, and year-end activities to ensure accuracy across multiple jurisdictions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Remittances & Filings: Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll tax remittances and filings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Tax Reporting: Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including Form 941, along with other federal, state, local, and provincial requirements.
• Data Analysis: Analyze large volumes of payroll and tax data using advanced Excel functions like Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate payroll tax discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and perform audit-related work with accurate documentation.
• Year-End Support: Support all year-end payroll processing, tax reporting, and compliance activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with at least 2 years in payroll tax, encompassing payments, reconciliations, and filings. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, local, and provincial payroll tax regulations.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of direct payroll tax filing and reconciliation experience, including Form 941. Proven track record with multi-state and provincial payroll tax reporting and compliance. Hands-on experience using SAP, SAP EC-Payroll, SuccessFactors, ADP, or similar payroll systems.
• Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and large data set analysis for reconciliations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective prioritization and management of multiple deadlines.
• Bonus: Demonstrated customer service experience in supporting both internal and external stakeholders.
