About the Job: Payroll Intern

Position Overview:
Legence is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Intern. This role offers hands-on experience in payroll operations, with a specific focus on compiling and submitting union reports and certified payroll reports. A key aspect of the role will be identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency through automation or process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build skills in payroll management and contribute to a dynamic and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:

Union Report Management:
• Compile and submit accurate union reports in compliance with deadlines and union agreements.
• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all union-related payroll activities.
Certified Payroll Reporting:
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in accordance with applicable regulations and project requirements.
• Verify compliance with prevailing wage laws and other relevant standards.
Process Improvement and Automation:
• Analyze existing payroll reporting processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with team members to develop and implement automated solutions to streamline report submissions.
• Research and recommend tools, software, or systems to enhance payroll reporting workflows.
Data Accuracy and Compliance:
• Ensure all payroll data is accurate, complete, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Address discrepancies or errors in payroll reports promptly and professionally.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with the payroll team and other departments to gather necessary information for reports.
• Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, including unions and project representatives, as needed.
Learning and Development:
• Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in payroll and compliance.

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools; familiarity with payroll software is a plus.
Analytical mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Interest in payroll operations, compliance, and process improvement.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience or coursework related to payroll, accounting, or data analysis.
• Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., macros, scripts, or specialized software).
