This is a full-time hybrid role at Verizon, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office as set by your manager, with the flexibility to work from home. • Mission: This person is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and compliance of Verizon’s financial operations by meticulously reconciling payments, identifying discrepancies, and resolving complex errors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports and comprehensive account reconciliations, contributing to clear financial oversight.
• Transaction Monitoring: Monitor and reconcile daily payment transactions, merchant accounts, and bank settlements to ensure accuracy and proactively identify any discrepancies.
• Error Resolution: Analyze and resolve the root causes of failed transactions, chargebacks, and payment processing errors, ensuring financial integrity.
• Financial Close Assistance: Provide essential support during monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Accounting Accuracy: Review the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications, while also preparing journal entries and verifying records to maintain precise financial records.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of core accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, verifying records, balancing accounts, and resolving errors, often guided by government regulations and accounting best practices.
• Experience: One or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through prior work or military service. This includes practical experience in financial reporting, account reconciliation, cash account balancing, and troubleshooting payment transaction discrepancies.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, the ability to work independently, proficiency in data analysis, and a proven knack for spotting and fixing errors in financial reports.
• Bonus: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; knowledge of FASB requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and other accounting best practices; proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with accounting systems and applications such as SAP, ReconNET, Optimus Fintech, CPM/Essbase, Hyperion Financial Management, Blackline, or SQL; or being in the process of obtaining CPA certification.
