The Tone:
Keller Preece PLLC is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual to join its team. This role is for a Patent Prosecution Legal Assistant/Paralegal who will provide essential support to the patent prosecution team while assisting with daily office operations. The position offers in-office training and is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with technology, solving problems, creating efficient processes, and maintaining high levels of accuracy. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely, accurate, and organized handling of intellectual property matters for the firm.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Communication Management: Serve as the initial point of contact for the office by professionally answering and directing incoming phone calls.
• Correspondence Processing: Review all incoming correspondence from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and prepare necessary response templates and supporting documentation.
• Document Filing: Assist with the preparation, careful proofreading, and precise filing of various patent prosecution documents with the USPTO.
• Record Review: Examine patent records, official forms, and all supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to firm procedures.
• File Maintenance: Assist with systematic document organization, meticulous electronic file maintenance, and general administrative support for all patent-related matters.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position, with a willingness to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong computer skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a desire to learn.
• Experience: Prior intellectual property experience is preferred but not required; law firm, professional services, or administrative environment experience is preferred.
• Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; ability to learn new software systems quickly; strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Bonus: Familiarity with intellectual property, patents, or docketing systems; experience creating templates, workflows, or process documentation; experience working with databases or document management systems.
