The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at The Fashion Foundation, located in Long Island, New York. The Fashion Foundation operates as a nonprofit organization within the fashion industry, diligently sourcing and receiving donations of excess merchandise directly from various designers. This internship plays a pivotal role in the organization’s mission, as the proceeds generated from the sale of these donated items are strategically utilized to purchase essential school supplies for underprivileged students across New York, thereby making a tangible positive impact in local communities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Merchandise Processing: Directly assist with the meticulous processing and systematic organization of incoming merchandise donations received from a variety of fashion brands. This involves ensuring items are cataloged and prepared for the next stages of inventory.
• Product Curation: Actively merchandise and meticulously prepare products, ensuring they are optimized for visual appeal and ready for presentation and sale through the organization’s channels.
• E-commerce Management: Take part in uploading product details, descriptions, and images, and manage existing products on the organization’s dedicated e-commerce platform, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
• Visual Content Support: Provide essential support for product photography sessions, including setup and execution, and perform necessary image editing to enhance the visual quality and appeal of products online.
• Operational Assistance: Contribute to various marketing and outreach initiatives designed to promote the organization’s mission and products, and help diligently maintain inventory records and efficient organizational systems within the Long Island office.
• Special Projects Engagement: Participate in and contribute to various special projects as they arise, offering flexibility and support across different operational needs of the foundation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Applicant must be a college student actively enrolled during either the Fall or Spring 2027 academic semester.
• Experience: This position requires the intern to be physically based on Long Island, New York, for the entirety of their internship during the Fall or Spring 2027 semester. It offers a very hands-on learning experience, providing direct exposure to practical applications in fashion, e-commerce operations, merchandising strategies, and the workings of a nonprofit organization.
• Skills: Demonstrated capability to assist with organizing and processing inventory; aptitude for merchandising and preparing products for sale; competence in navigating and managing content on e-commerce platforms; fundamental skills in product photography and image editing; and the ability to support marketing, outreach, and maintain organized inventory systems.
