The Tone:
This is a full-time, remote Paralegal role at SBM Management Services, LP, an organization with a litigation-heavy legal function spanning its operations and real estate divisions. The company relies on this position to provide critical support as an Operations professional, maintaining tight operational control over all litigation activities and outside counsel spending. This high-impact role demands an individual who can operate with urgency, discretion, and strategic judgment, ensuring the effective management of sensitive legal matters and contributing to the overall legal strategy.

• Mission: To critically support a litigation-heavy legal function by maintaining tight operational control over all litigation activities and efficiently managing outside counsel spending to align with strategic goals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Litigation Support: Support active litigation spanning SBM Operations and Real Estate, handling tasks such as pleadings, discovery, motions, and filings.
• Case Management: Track and manage critical litigation dates, including summary judgment motions, hearings, and trial preparation, while maintaining real-time awareness of case status.
• Strategic Partnership: Partner closely with legal leadership to support overall matter strategy and execution, proactively preparing matter summaries and timelines.
• Outside Counsel Management: Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for outside counsel, ensuring their responsiveness, alignment with strategy, and accountability.
• Financial Analysis: Manage and analyze outside counsel spend, performing detailed invoice reviews, cost tracking, and reporting on expenditure trends over time.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A minimum of 5 years of experience encompassing paralegal and/or legal operations work, specifically within a corporate legal department setting, complemented by law firm training or experience.
• Experience: Robust litigation experience, including comfort and proficiency in supporting strategic motion practice and complex legal processes.
• Skills: Demonstrates exceptional organizational capabilities, a proactive work ethic, and immediate responsiveness. Possesses the ability to operate as a trusted professional, managing sensitive legal matters with the highest level of discretion.
