This role, the Outdoor Adventure Customer Service Guide – On Call, is crucial to supporting our daily recreation operations. You will be the welcoming face for guests, assisting with bike rentals, providing essential orientations on equipment usage, and ensuring all gear is meticulously cleaned, maintained, and prepared for use. Your focus will be on creating a friendly and safe environment, helping guests with equipment setup, and performing basic bike maintenance to guarantee enjoyable and secure recreation experiences. This position is vital during peak operational periods, special events, and busy occupancy days.

Job Specifications

  • Location: Onsite at Black Desert Resort in Southern Utah.
  • Schedule: On Call / Variable Schedule, based on operational need, ideal for flexibility.
  • Pay Rate: $16 – $18.00/hour. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests arriving for outdoor recreation activities, ensuring a welcoming and positive start to their experience.
  • Welcome guests back after their ride or activity and efficiently assist with equipment return procedures.
  • Provide clear, concise, and safe instructions on how to operate resort bicycles and other outdoor equipment.
  • Properly fit guests for bicycles, including precise seat height adjustments and secure helmet fittings.
  • Conduct preventative bike care, which includes routine tire pressure checks, chain lubrication, and thorough safety inspections.
  • Perform basic bike repairs such as tightening components and making minor adjustments to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Wash and meticulously clean bicycles daily, ensuring all equipment is free of dirt and debris before each guest use.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize helmets, accessories, and all related equipment after each use.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy equipment area, including bike racks, storage areas, and guest service counters.
  • Assist with activity check-ins and scheduling as needed, supporting seamless operational flow.
  • Monitor inventory of bikes, helmets, locks, and accessories, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate effectively with recreation leadership to ensure equipment readiness for all scheduled activities.
  • Promptly report any maintenance issues or equipment concerns to ensure guest safety and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized outdoor recreation environment at all times.
  • Uphold Black Desert Resort’s ultra-premium hospitality standards in every interaction and task.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the recreation team and resort operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in outdoor recreation, bike rental operations, or a customer service role is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of bicycle maintenance and fundamental repair skills.
  • Strong communication and exceptional guest service skills.
  • Ability to explain equipment use clearly, confidently, and patiently to guests.
  • Strong attention to safety protocols and the meticulous condition of equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, to meet operational demands.
