Operations Leadership Trainee | HOLT CAT

The Tone:
This is a full-time leadership development position at HOLT CAT, located in San Antonio. As part of the Machine Division, HOLT CAT operates as a Caterpillar dealership, providing equipment and engines. This role is crucial for preparing college graduates to assume professional leadership positions, fostering a deep understanding of operations and the company’s distinct Values Based Leadership (VBL) culture. The trainee will develop the necessary skills to lead and influence effectively within the organization.

• Mission: To develop and prepare college graduates for professional leadership roles by immersing them in diverse operational activities and fostering proficiency in HOLT’s Values Based Leadership culture.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Leadership Development: Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent application of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership tools, models, and processes to align with the company’s vision, values, and mission.
• Rotational Assignments: Participate in rotations through multiple departments and assignments, successfully identifying areas of highest and best use for personal contribution and organizational impact over 24 months.
• Relationship Building: Develop strong, positive and interdependent relationships with individuals and teams at all levels across the enterprise to enable success in future positions.
• Cultural Integration: Demonstrate personal adaptability and a comprehensive understanding of the Values Based Leadership culture, including its specific language, tools, models, and processes.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Undertake a one-year rotation with direct supervisory responsibilities, which includes interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, coaching, developing, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems for employees.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or another relevant focus is required for this entry-level leadership development position.
• Experience: Participation in a 24-month structured leadership development program, including a one-year rotation with hands-on supervisory responsibilities.
• Skills: Strong self-management, demonstrated influencing capability in diverse conditions, expertise in problem identification and resolution, and the ability to integrate strategic business plans into operational planning.
• Bonus: Professional knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the industries and positional roles encountered within the program.
