This is a full-time trainee position at WebstaurantStore, located within one of its distribution centers. This Operations Leadership Trainee role is fundamental to cultivating future leaders, offering a structured program that provides the time and guidance necessary to thoroughly learn all facets of a distribution center’s operations, as well as the specific expectations of WebstaurantStore’s leadership team. The ultimate goal for trainees is to successfully complete this comprehensive training and transition into a permanent leadership position within the facility, contributing directly to operational excellence and employee engagement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Management: Actively support day-to-day operational decisions within an assigned department or shift, focusing on maintaining performance standards, optimizing processes, and fostering effective leadership practices. This includes being flexible regarding schedules and available to work any shift to fill leadership gaps or rotate through departments for broad exposure.
• Learn Operations: Comprehensively learn and understand the distinct processes of each department and shift within the distribution center. This involves identifying how each department interacts with others and proactively recognizing opportunities for operational improvement and efficiency gains.
• Apply Leadership Principles: Engage actively in leadership discussions, demonstrating the capability to apply WebstaurantStore’s established leadership principles to daily tasks, decision-making, and interactions with team members. This prepares the trainee for future leadership responsibilities.
• Monitor & Resolve Issues: Regularly monitor daily, weekly, and monthly operational metrics for assigned departments. This responsibility includes identifying and resolving emerging operating issues promptly, providing support for corrective actions, and assisting with the progressive discipline process when necessary.
• Promote Engagement & Safety: Interact consistently and effectively with employees to foster a high level of engagement and morale across the team. Simultaneously, ensure that all company safety regulations and rules are strictly followed, contributing to a secure and productive work environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role emphasizes practical skills and experience over formal education; a degree is not required. Candidates are valued for their relevant skills, demonstrated experience, and strong alignment with WebstaurantStore’s core values. The position is structured to provide fundamental learning and development for aspiring leaders.
• Experience: While 2 years of relevant experience in management is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement for this trainee role. Similarly, prior experience working within a distribution environment is also preferred but not essential, making this an accessible opportunity for individuals eager to enter operations leadership.
• Skills: Required proficiencies include strong capabilities with MS Office applications, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for communication and data analysis. Candidates must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges, alongside strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex concepts clearly. The ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, coupled with a diplomatic and emotionally intelligent approach to difficult situations, is also essential.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include two years of relevant management experience and previous experience in a distribution environment. Additionally, the ability to work off-shift as needed to respond to urgent operational requirements is considered a valuable asset for this role.
