Job Summary
Under close supervision, this Operations Internship position will provide support to customers by assisting with transportation and logistics services. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical experience within the supply chain industry.
Job Description
As an Operations Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and a foundational understanding of transportation management principles. This role involves active participation in daily operational tasks and exposure to various critical functions within the supply chain department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain exposure to and understanding of basic transportation management principles.
- Participate in daily operational tasks, including:
- Planning of freight.
- Asset utilization.
- Safety management.
- Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance.
- Driver payroll.
- Customer Value Delivery.
- Logistics management/analysis.
- Driver supervision.
- Profit-and-loss management.
- Maintenance coordination.
- Develop an understanding of industry trends and company initiatives related to driver retention.
- Perform pertinent account-specific duties as required by the customer.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program and in good standing at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a business degree or related field.
- Ability to work 20-25 hours per week.
- Commitment to complete a 12-week internship program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior level standing in your undergraduate program.
- Previous work experience in Transportation/Logistics is beneficial.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
Skills & Abilities
- Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain order.
- Multitasking Ability: Capable of handling various responsibilities simultaneously.
- Microsoft Office Suite: Proficiency in applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
Compensation
The expected starting pay range for this position is between $15.00 – $18.75 per hour. Factors that may influence the starting pay within this range include skills, education, experience, geographic location, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes, in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
