Job Summary
This Operations Internship offers an undergraduate student the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the transportation and logistics industry. Under close supervision, the intern will assist in providing transportation/logistics services to customers, gaining exposure to key operational principles and daily tasks within a supply chain environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain exposure to and understanding of basic transportation management principles.
- Participate in daily operational tasks, including:
- Planning of freight
- Asset utilization
- Safety management
- Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance
- Driver payroll processing
- Customer Value Delivery (CVD) initiatives
- Logistics management and analysis
- Driver supervision assistance
- Profit-and-loss management support
- Maintenance coordination
- Develop an understanding of current industry trends and company initiatives related to driver retention.
- Perform specific account-related duties as required by customer needs.
- Undertake other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Must be in good standing with the academic institution.
- Pursuing a business degree or a related field.
- Ability to commit to working 20-25 hours per week.
- Ability to complete a 12-week internship program.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior level undergraduate student.
- Prior exposure or interest in Transportation/Logistics work experience.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively multi-task.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
Additional Requirements:
- This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.
Compensation
Starting pay for this position will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s skills, education, experience, geographic location, and other relevant qualifications. This internship may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on company profitability or volumes, in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
