Koch Fertilizer in Taft, LA, is excited to offer an Operations Internship opportunity for 2026! This hands-on role is specifically designed for individuals without prior experience, providing an invaluable chance to learn and grow within an industrial environment.

Program Details

  • Duration: A 12-week program, running from late-May to early August 2026.
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts, with flexibility in scheduling opportunities.
  • Location: Taft, LA

What You Will Do

As an Operations Intern, you will collaborate closely with our operations team on projects aimed at improving efficiency and uptime. This role will allow you to acquire new skills that are crucial for future career advancement. Previous interns have engaged in a diverse range of projects within our facilities, with responsibilities including:

  • Assisting operators in the operation of plant equipment and machinery.
  • Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Monitoring and accurately recording operational data, promptly reporting any abnormalities.
  • Strictly adhering to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Providing essential support to the team in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.
  • Actively participating in training programs designed to develop required skills and knowledge for the role.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members to achieve operational goals and objectives.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled in a technical or vocational program related to manufacturing, industrial operations, maintenance, or a similar field.
  • Willingness to work in an industrial environment, which includes working both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including:

  • Climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights up to 120 feet.
  • Performing low work, including kneeling/squatting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
  • Ability to be medically approved to participate in the respiratory protection and HAZWOPER programs.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights and weekends, as available outside of academic commitments.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Previous military experience.
