About the Job: Operations Intern/Trainee
Martin Marietta, a member of the S&P 500 Index and a leading supplier of heavy building materials across 28 states, Canada, and the Bahamas, is seeking ambitious and values-driven individuals to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the aggregate mining industry, understanding the complete production process from quarry to finished product. You will be an integral part of operations, learning critical skills and becoming familiar with the high standards of performance expected at Martin Marietta.
Critical Activities:
- Safety and Ethics Adherence: Consistently adheres to and enforces all prescribed ethical, safety, and environmental measures, ensuring a secure and responsible work environment.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operates and maintains various plant equipment, including but not limited to crushers, screens, conveyors, and heavy off-road equipment, gaining practical mechanical skills.
- Blasting Process Assistance: Actively assists in the blasting process, which includes laying out drill patterns and loading shots, providing exposure to critical quarry operations.
- Aggregate Mine Operations Familiarization: Develops a comprehensive understanding of an Aggregate Mine’s operations, grasping the entire production cycle from raw material extraction to processing.
- Leadership Development: Becomes familiar with the traits and practices of high-performing managers within Martin Marietta, offering insight into future career growth paths.
- Company Values Compliance: Ensures all activities are performed in strict accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, as well as its policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Educational Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Experience: Prior full-time experience is not required; this is an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates.
- Core Abilities:
- Ability to learn technical processes quickly and efficiently.
- Possesses high-level verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of thriving and contributing effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
