Operations Co-Op Intern (Blind Fasteners) | Precision Castparts

The Tone:
This is a co-op internship at Precision Castparts, located in-person. Precision Castparts is a high-performance manufacturing organization that produces industrial components and fasteners. This role offers students a hands-on, leadership-oriented experience designed to build a future career leading people in a manufacturing environment. The intern will gain immersive exposure to daily operations and production systems, driving real improvements and solving operational problems while learning to lead and sustain manufacturing systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Production: Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards during daily production activities on the shop floor.
• Drive 6S Initiatives: Execute and sustain 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) initiatives across all production areas.
• Monitor Performance: Monitor and analyze key performance metrics such as scrap, first-pass yield, throughput, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
• Implement Continuous Improvement: Partner with engineering and operations to implement projects focused on productivity, cost reduction, and process capability.
• Conduct Audits and Analysis: Perform process, quality, and performance audits, identifying gaps and driving corrective actions and root cause analysis for production issues.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a BS Degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or Business Management, having completed at least the freshman year.
• Experience: Demonstrated initiative and ownership in improving outcomes, with an interest in continuous improvement, problem-solving, and practical, hands-on process improvements within a manufacturing context.
• Skills: Ability to analyze processes and performance data to apply root cause analysis; demonstrated technical and mechanical acumen to understand and work with manufacturing equipment and processes; and effective collaboration with frontline teams and cross-functional partners.
