Office of Legal Counsel Intern | Pratt Institute School of Architecture
The Tone:
This is an unpaid internship opportunity at Pratt Institute, located in Brooklyn, NY, with a hybrid work schedule requiring at least one on-campus day per week. Pratt Institute is a world-class and internationally ranked college providing professional knowledge and experience in art, design, architecture, liberal arts and sciences, and information studies to foster creative leaders. This role offers a law school student the unique chance to gain practical experience in higher education, non-profit, and arts administration legal services, working directly with experienced in-house attorneys. The intern’s contributions will directly support the legal operations of an institution dedicated to accessible education and social responsibility.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn: Attend webinars and other educational sessions focused on the practice of higher education law.
• Draft: Review and draft contracts, specifically those related to campus facilities and maintenance.
• Research: Assist in-house counsel by conducting legal research tasks.
• Contribute: Complete other assigned tasks that support the intern’s education and professional growth.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be enrolled as a law school student entering their 2L year or above.
• Experience: Completed introductory coursework in contract law; available to work 8-16 hours per week during the semester.
• Skills: Demonstrated interest in higher education, arts, and non-profit legal services; professional conduct in accordance with Pratt’s values and policies.
• Bonus: Eligibility to receive academic credit for the internship through their law school.
