Job Title: Nursing Student (Clinical Support Role)
Position Summary:
This position offers an invaluable opportunity for a currently enrolled nursing student to gain practical experience in a clinical setting, contributing to patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The successful candidate will apply foundational nursing knowledge, develop essential clinical skills, and integrate into the healthcare team, preparing them for a future career as a Registered Nurse. This role is designed to complement academic learning with real-world application, fostering professional growth and understanding of the healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Care Assistance:
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene.
• Aid with patient mobility, transfers, ambulation, and positioning, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests, providing compassionate and efficient support.
• Assist with the intake and output measurement and documentation.
• Monitoring and Documentation:
• Obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior to the supervising Registered Nurse immediately.
• Document care provided and observations made in the patient’s electronic health record (EHR) or chart, as per facility policy and under supervision.
• Clinical Support:
• Assist licensed nurses and other healthcare professionals with procedures and treatments, within the scope of practice for a nursing student and under direct supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and ensuring necessary supplies are readily available.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients.
• Transport patients and specimens as needed.
• Communication and Collaboration:
• Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Participate in shift handovers and team meetings to ensure continuity of care.
• Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Professional Development:
• Actively seek learning opportunities and ask questions to deepen clinical understanding.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA for patient confidentiality.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
Qualifications:
• Current Enrollment: Nursing student currently enrolled in a nursing program at a college or university.
• Foundational Knowledge: Successful completion of fundamentals nursing course. This includes a demonstrated understanding of basic patient care, safety principles, and ethical considerations.
• Continued Enrollment Proof: Proof of continued enrollment in a pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment to exceed one year. This may include official transcripts, enrollment verification letters, or other documentation from the educational institution.

Reporting Relationship:
