Intern – Nordic Center (2026) | YMCA of the Rockies
The Tone:
This is an internship at YMCA of the Rockies, located in Granby, CO. The YMCA of the Rockies puts Christian principles into practice by providing programs and facilities that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. This role is an integral member of the Nordic Center team, which ensures the smooth daily operations of an award-winning center offering over 90 kms of groomed ski trails. The intern helps provide guests with a world-class Nordic experience, contributing to the organization’s mission and core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Granby, CO
• Team: Nordic Center team
• Mission: Ensure smooth daily operations and deliver a world-class Nordic experience for guests at Snow Mountain Ranch’s Nordic Center.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Center Operations: Open and close the Nordic Center promptly, ensuring coverage and managing all daily procedures.
• Guest Services: Handle ski rentals, record sales, issue trail passes, and provide accurate information about the Center and other Snow Mountain Ranch activities.
• Instruction: Teach beginner to intermediate classic and skate Nordic ski techniques to guests.
• Event Coordination: Collaborate with the Nordic Center Director to plan, organize, and execute successful races, free lesson days, and community events.
• Facility Upkeep: Maintain the cleanliness, upkeep, and excellent presentation of the ski shop environment and immediate surroundings.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Must be at least 18 years old with knowledge of Nordic skiing (classic and skate techniques) and basic instruction principles.
• Experience: Practical working knowledge of both classic and skate waxing techniques to offer advice to guests.
• Skills: Nordic skiing proficiency (classic and skate), instructional ability (beginner to intermediate), retail sales and point-of-sale operation, customer service and communication, current Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.
