Nonprofit Events and Hospitality Intern | Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Silicon Valley Chapter
The Tone:
This is a non-paid internship at Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Silicon Valley Chapter, offering the opportunity to support Casa de la Familia’s events department. This role is designed for undergraduate students seeking to complete their internship hours. You will be a responsible contributor, performing a variety of administrative tasks crucial for the smooth operation of events, directly supporting the Events Manager. This position requires a commitment of at least 10 hours per week for 6 months.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate Communications: Make, answer, and direct phone calls, alongside writing and distributing emails, correspondence memos, letters, and forms.
• Support Event Logistics: Research businesses and locations for event needs, and reach out to potential venues and businesses.
• Facilitate Administrative Operations: Plan meetings, take detailed notes, assist in the preparation of reports, and provide general administrative support.
• Maintain Departmental Records: Organize and update essential contact lists, as well as office policies and procedures.
• Assist Onsite Event Execution: Provide critical support to events department activities both prior to and during active events.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Students interested in completing internship hours for an Undergraduate Degree program; Entry-Level career experience.
• Experience: Previous experience as an administrative assistant, office admin assistant, or event assistant.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular); excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work; strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task; attention to detail and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
