What You’ll Actually Do
• Testing: Conduct acoustic and vibrational testing on various consumer products.
• Analysis: Analyze acoustic and vibration frequency spectra to identify and localize noise sources.
• Collaboration: Work with product development teams to implement sound power and quality improvements.
• Solution Design: Design, build prototypes, and test solutions for noise and vibration issues.
• Research: Lead research into novel noise reduction and control techniques within the R&D team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student in the third year or beyond of a bachelor’s program, or currently enrolled in a master’s program, in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, or a similar field. Must have foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering, physical acoustics, psychoacoustics, and noise control principles, along with an understanding of vibrating systems and how parameter modifications affect responses.
• Experience: Demonstrated exposure to CAD programs, ideally SolidWorks or Creo, and practical experience with 3D printing or laser cutting. Requires hands-on experience with prototype development in plastic and metal, including using basic machine shop tools. Familiarity with electronics (analog/digital), test equipment such as microphones and accelerometers, and components common in small appliances (sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs, etc.) is necessary, as is hands-on experimental testing.
• Skills: Possesses solid analytical abilities, keen attention to detail, and a drive to identify and resolve potential problems. Strong communication skills are essential for conveying abstract concepts to both technical and non-technical colleagues clearly and concisely. Must be comfortable multitasking, adapting to shifting priorities, and capable of autonomously identifying, solving, implementing, and verifying technical solutions, both independently and as part of a team.
