Job Description

PSE is hiring three interns to support the Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Museum at Snoqualmie Falls Park. This internship provides real-world experience, enhancing technical and communication skills while offering insight into PSE’s utility environment. Interns will gain practical knowledge to complement their academic achievements and play an integral role in serving customers, neighboring communities, and the environment. PSE fosters a work culture where employees are valued, respected, and empowered to achieve maximum performance.

The ideal candidate will focus on outreach to targeted audiences, including educational organizations, to promote and sustain facility visitations. They will also coordinate with other PSE departments and corporate programs/initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

This is a unique opportunity to support the Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Project, PSE’s oldest power-generating operation and the world’s first completely underground power plant. This facility continues to produce clean, cost-effective electricity for the region. The public park and trails associated with the project attract approximately 2 million visitors annually to view the majestic 270-foot waterfall, making it one of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular scenic destinations.

This summer internship will focus on welcoming visitors and setting a positive tone for their experience, with an emphasis on education and safety. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tours and presentations.
  • Implementing and interpreting facility educational materials and exhibits.
  • Learning Puget Sound Energy’s history to deliver authentic and consistent information regarding PSE’s history and role in the community.
  • Hosting special visitors and public officials when required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a Sophomore or higher in History, Museum Studies, Parks and Recreation Management, or a related area of study.
  • Comfortable presenting a variety of materials to new audiences and possessing excellent communication skills.
  • Experience interacting with the public.
  • Good academic standing.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and motivation.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Interested in the energy and/or utility field.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to learn unfamiliar content in a specific timeframe.
  • Prior tour, museum, or visitor center experience.
  • Experience in Heritage programs.

Additional Information

  • Interns must be 18 years of age or older.
  • The start date will be dependent on intern availability, generally lasting between Memorial Day (May 28) and Labor Day.
  • The hours of operation for the museum are Wednesday through Sunday, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • The pay range for this position is $20 – $25 per hour.
  • This position is not benefits eligible.
