Job Description

About Company

Tesla is driven by a mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. The company is dedicated to recognizing and developing emerging talent through its year-round internship program, placing students in positions that foster technical, professional, and personal growth. Interns at Tesla work closely with Managers, Mentors, and teams, contributing to critical projects that impact the company’s success and mission.

The specific team for this internship, the Tesla Energy Mobile App team, plays a crucial role in this mission by building the core app experience for Tesla Solar, Powerwall, and Charging products. Their goal is to create friendly, understandable, and powerful user interfaces that are accessible to anyone, thereby facilitating the global transition to sustainable energy.

The team has a proven track record of shipping impactful features. Examples of projects delivered in 2024 and 2025 (some with intern contributions) include:
Tesla Recharged: A “year-in-review” feature, akin to Spotify Wrapped, that personalizes a homeowner’s energy usage, sustainability achievements, and savings.
Puerto Rico Virtual Power Plant Dashboard: A dashboard that aggregates real-time data from Powerwall fleets across Puerto Rico. This innovation helps prevent daily outages by organizing distributed home batteries to function as a unified, large power plant, enhancing grid sustainability and reducing costs.
Storm Watch Enhancements: The Storm Watch feature automatically charges Powerwall units in anticipation of severe weather, a primary cause of grid outages. Recent updates have provided owners with the capability to manually charge their batteries using this feature.
