Medical Billing & Coding Assistant

Key Responsibilities

- Review claims for completeness and meticulously correct any coding errors or discrepancies when necessary.
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with patients regarding billing questions, payment options, and setting up payment plans.
- Verify insurance information thoroughly and consistently update patient billing records to maintain data integrity.
- Work closely and collaboratively with medical providers and administrative teams to ensure comprehensive and accurate claim documentation.
- Perform general office tasks, including precise data entry, efficient document processing, and organized file management.
- Support ongoing billing, reimbursement, and coding workflows as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- MediClear or equivalent HIPAA certification (required), demonstrating your understanding of patient privacy regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, crucial for error-free billing and coding.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, essential for interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Organized, dependable, and eager to learn new processes and information.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively within a structured office environment.
- Basic computer proficiency; comfort with data entry and standard office software.

- An interest in medical billing, coding, or healthcare administration, indicating a passion for the field.
- Coursework or certificates in billing/coding (optional), which would be a plus but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in customer service or administrative roles, demonstrating transferable skills.

Salary Range: $22 – $32 USD per hour (Hourly)
