About the Role
This role is for a Summer 2026 Mechanical Systems Intern on the Cesium mechanical team, focusing on designing and building space structures and thermal systems for satellite communication systems. Interns will collaborate with Cesium engineers on product development, design, test, and manufacturing, contributing to innovative communication solutions for space and airborne platforms.

What You’ll Do
• Work closely with Cesium engineers on product development, design, test, and manufacturing of structures and thermal systems for space communication systems.
• Design conduction-cooled packaging, deployable structures and mechanisms, and lightweight composite space structures.
• Regularly present your work to peers, mentors, and Cesium executive leadership throughout the course of the summer.

You’re a Good Fit If You
• Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), or Ph.D. program in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Have completed upper-level undergraduate coursework in structures and heat transfer.
• Have experience with mechanical FEA tools, such as SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Qualifications
• Familiarity with electronics assemblies.
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing.
• Aerospace or automotive electronics design, development, and qualification.
