Summary of Position: Mechanical Engineering Intern

The Mechanical Engineering intern will assist in the Renewables and Energy Infrastructure Mechanical Design department. In this position, you are expected to have a good understanding of engineering theory, basic concepts of design, and an eagerness for exposure to the design environment. This role will support mechanical design and analysis project activities and product factory introduction coordination.

Intern Duties And Responsibilities

  • Help drive the development and maintain tools to support mechanical system design & documentation, and requirements engineering.
  • Support product design and documentation at a mechanical system and product level.
  • Support detailed design and development of mechanical system components, including verifying dimensional requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to meet product requirements.
  • Help develop cost tracking methods and means to select design options that provide the lowest cost solution that meets the customer needs and expectations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, when applicable, to provide the best technical and cost solution.

Qualifications

  • Major(s): Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Class Year: Rising Senior
  • GPA: Minimum 3.0
  • Availability: Must be available to work in St. Petersburg, Florida from May 18, 2026 – August 7, 2026

Technical Knowledge And Skills

  • Mechanical Engineering coursework: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Basics of heat transfer
  • Microsoft Office Suite

Non-Technical Knowledge And Skills

  • Effectively communicate with a good understanding of English.
  • Work as part of a global team.
  • Self-starter – Ability to drive work.
  • Leadership Skills: Agility, Building Trusting Relationships, Decision Making Skills, & Resilience
