About The Role
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Clinic is offering Clinical Internship opportunities beginning in April/May 2026. This internship is a significant opportunity to learn and grow within the mental health field. The Clinical Internship program at Arbour aims to deliver high-quality training and supervision to students, focusing on the roles and responsibilities of a counselor/therapist within a multi-leveled, multi-faceted, and multidisciplinary Behavioral Healthcare System. Interns will gain clinical experience in a setting that prioritizes quality care and documentation, preparing them for meaningful and quality care provision in future positions, both within and outside Arbour.

What Our PHPs Have To Offer You
• Comprehensive Experience: Gain hands-on experience with Groups, Intakes, Case Management, and Crisis Management. By the end of this full-year program, you will successfully be able to lead a group, conduct an intake, manage a case, and handle various crisis situations.
• Regular In-Services: Participate in regular in-service sessions discussing diverse topics including legal issues in mental health, system navigation, ethics in mental health, resume writing, job search strategies, and more.
• Extensive Supervision: Receive weekly supervision from an independently licensed behavioral health provider (LMHC or LICSW) to meet graduation and licensure requirements. Additionally, you will have easy access to on-the-spot supervision from your supervisor and other clinicians.
• Professional Development: Focus on your development as a clinician, with support for maintaining work/life/school balance during your placement and beyond.

Clinical Skills You’ll Obtain
• Conducting clinical assessments and diagnosing a variety of mental health and substance use disorders.
• Developing individualized treatment planning.
• Facilitating Group Therapy: Psychotherapy, Expressive Therapy, and Psychoeducation (e.g., Stress-Management, Anger Management, DBT, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem).
• Implementing individual therapy interventions.
• Performing case management and aftercare planning/referrals.
• Administering and executing programmatic daily operations for a higher level of care.
• Collaborating with professionals in various capacities and working on a multidisciplinary clinical treatment team.
• Understanding insurance authorizations, level of care assessments, and medical necessity justification.
• Executing crisis management, risk assessments, and safety planning.
• Presenting cases with diagnostic conversations and education.

Qualifications
• 2nd Year Master’s Students / 2nd Internship (or equivalent experience).
• 1st Year Master’s Students with some relevant experience will be considered.
• Availability for 24 hours/week, specifically three days a week from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
• Required attendance at a Staff Meeting (day dependent on location).
• Required attendance at an Orientation Session (Date TBA) and Agency-wide Intern Workshops.
• Holiday Schedule: PHP only closes for major holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day). We are open days before and after holidays; interns are not guaranteed these days off. Holiday schedules are determined in October.
• Interns may take up to 4 weeks’ vacation during the year, subject to Director approval to ensure adequate coverage.
• Candidate must possess appropriate citizenship work documentation.
• Candidate must pass a CORI check, drug test, and other pre-employment documentation.
