• Mission: To conduct comprehensive analyses of price risk across the Bank’s diverse businesses, enhance market risk methodologies and governance, and ensure effective communication with stakeholders including senior management and regulators.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Daily Market Risk Operations: Play a pivotal role in the daily management of Market Risk Management’s (MRM) risk reporting and monitoring function. This includes leading key projects and initiatives, such as systems implementations, by collaborating extensively with internal business partners and external risk management partners across the global organization, including BTMU-NY and BTMU-Tokyo.
• Advance Risk Analytics and Valuation: Actively learn and contribute to the department’s advanced risk and independent valuation analytics. You will serve as a critical backup for existing processes and be instrumental in refining and enhancing current methodologies and frameworks to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure Regulatory and Disclosure Compliance: Support the financial disclosure processes for MRM, ensuring meticulous oversight and compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines. This includes staying abreast of and implementing requirements from current and forthcoming regulations, such as Basel II.
• Facilitate Inter-Company Policy and Governance: Assist MRM as a primary market risk liaison. This involves engaging with the Corporate Risk Management Division of the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi. Ltd., the Bank’s parent company, on crucial policy, governance, and reporting issues to ensure alignment and effective communication across the group.
• Enhance Communication and Strategy: Contribute to enhancing the department’s internal and external communications strategy, interacting directly with Bank senior management, auditors, and regulatory agencies. This includes presenting analyses of price risk and potential income statement/balance sheet impacts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A minimum Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) with a focus in Finance, Economics, or a closely related quantitative field.
• Experience: 2-4 years of relevant professional experience within the banking or capital markets sectors. This experience should include exposure to various complex trading products, such as bonds, mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, futures, options, credit-default swaps, and interest rate swaps. General project management skills are also essential for this role.
• Skills: Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and meticulous attention to detail are paramount. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to build and maintain rapport with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and regulators. The ability to work under time pressure, especially when supporting product and systems development for complex financial instruments, and the capacity to work independently with limited supervision are also crucial.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree (MBA/MS) is considered a strong plus. Additionally, general knowledge of financial markets, accounting principles, and valuation techniques would be highly advantageous for success in this position.
