Manufacturing Cost Accountant | Gemini, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Gemini, Inc., with locations available in Taylor, TX; Las Colinas, TX; Decorah, IA; or Cannon Falls, MN. Gemini is a leader in the signage manufacturing industry, providing stability to its employees since 1963. This Manufacturing Cost Accountant position is crucial for supporting the company’s goals and visions by ensuring the integrity of product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing financial reporting. The role acts as a key business partner to operations, providing meaningful cost analysis and supporting strategic decision-making across various teams.

• Mission: This person owns maintaining the integrity of product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing financial reporting while being a key business partner to operations for margin improvement and strategic decision-making.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Cost System Development: Develop and maintain robust cost accounting systems to accurately track expenses related to labor, materials, and overhead for various products, services, and projects.
• Financial Analysis & Compliance: Calculate and allocate costs in adherence to accounting standards, analyze cost data to identify variances and trends, and recommend adjustments to inventory reserves.
• Operational Collaboration: Partner closely with plant managers and operational leaders to deeply understand cost drivers, provide essential financial support for continuous improvement initiatives, and actively participate in new product costing and quoting activities.
• Reporting & Budgeting: Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including detailed cost reports and statements, and contribute to both the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Process Enhancement: Lead initiatives to improve costing methodologies and reporting processes, support enhancements to ERP and costing systems, and develop standard operating procedures to drive efficiency and automation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, providing a strong foundation in financial principles relevant to manufacturing operations.
• Experience: 4-6 years of direct cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment, including working in a mid-sized or complex organization, and practical experience with ERP systems and process improvement initiatives.
• Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, encompassing pivot tables, Power Query, and financial modeling; strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; effective communication and teamwork abilities; excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
