Managing Director, Investment Banking | Mariner

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mariner, a financial firm specializing in investment banking and wealth management for middle-market companies. This senior leader will be pivotal in leading business development, advisory, and transaction execution for founder-led and privately held businesses. The role is critical for guiding clients through complex financial events, ensuring growth, transition, and succession aligned with their long-term objectives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Business Development: Originate and cultivate middle-market investment banking opportunities by developing relationships with business owners, private equity firms, and referral sources to build a sustainable transaction pipeline.
• Strategic Advisory: Serve as a strategic advisor to founder-led businesses, guiding clients through liquidity events, ownership transitions, valuation strategies, and exit planning aligned with long-term financial objectives.
• Transaction Leadership: Lead client engagements and direct end-to-end transaction execution, overseeing due diligence, marketing materials, buyer outreach, negotiations, and successful deal closings.
• Growth and Expansion: Drive business growth and market expansion by enhancing Mariner’s investment banking platform, strengthening strategic relationships, and increasing awareness of the firm’s differentiated capabilities.
• Team Development: Mentor and develop investment banking professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on professional growth, operational excellence, and exceptional client service.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
• Experience: 12+ years of investment banking experience with a specific focus on middle-market transactions.
• Skills: FINRA Series SIE, 82, 79, 63; strong client relationship management; deep transaction execution expertise; ability to deliver thoughtful, holistic financial solutions.
