The Tone:
This is a full-time position focused on developing management skills within J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., a large and established transportation and logistics company. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and timely movement of freight, maintaining compliance with regulations, and delivering excellent customer service. The position is designed to train individuals to effectively manage driver operations and logistical processes, contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of the company.

• Mission: Responsible for learning to manage driver operations, freight movement, and customer service to support efficient and compliant transportation services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Relationships: Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up, minimize turnover, and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Efficiency: Become proficient in maximizing the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, making recommendations for continuous improvement, and presenting customer-specific reports and financial analyses.
• Administration: Learn to perform various administrative duties, including payroll, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and creating operational or financial reports.
• Yard Management: Learn to manage the yard, which includes checking equipment, performing minor repairs (e.g., mud flaps), and coordinating with maintenance for preventative services and safety-related mechanical fixes.
• Operations: Learn to assign loads, plan, route, and monitor freight movement to ensure safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements, including managing freight exceptions and adjusting driver ETAs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level role requiring a High School Diploma/GED with up to 4 years of relevant experience, or current enrollment in a degree program with up to 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Transportation Logistics is beneficial.
• Experience: Up to 4 years of equivalent education, experience, and training; or up to 2 years if currently enrolled in a degree program. Must be willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable, and work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• Skills: Conflict resolution, analytical decision-making, effective communication, adaptability, and problem-solving.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of equivalent education, experience, and training.
