• Mission: Learn to manage small driver counts and non-traditional shifts to ensure safe and timely freight movement, provide excellent customer service, and maintain DOT compliance.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Cultivate Relationships: Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and external carriers to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
• Optimize Operations: Become proficient in maximizing the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, including measuring KPIs and creating customer-specific reports.
• Oversee Freight Movement: Learn to assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to ensure safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements.
• Perform Administrative Duties: Learn to handle administrative tasks such as payroll, managing the net-revenue budget, driver counseling, accident reviews, and analyzing P&L statements.
• Maintain Compliance and Safety: Learn to manage the company’s safety culture, enforce company policies, and ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are met.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field. This is an entry-level management trainee position.
• Experience: Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable, work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed, and regionally relocate dependent on account assignment. Alternatively, a High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, or account management, or equivalent military experience.
• Skills: Ability to accurately analyze situations and make productive decisions, adapt to changing environments, establish and maintain healthy working relationships, and effectively transmit and interpret ideas.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team, anticipating and resolving conflicts, recognizing and resolving operational problems, and prior intern experience.
