Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.

• Mission: To learn and apply management principles to oversee driver operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver exceptional service in freight movement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Driver Relations: Cultivate and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and reliable outside carriers to minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Operational Optimization: Maximize the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, recommend continuous improvements, and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Fleet & Asset Coordination: Manage inventory, assets, and customer pools, assigning drivers to balance equipment across the market.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain the company’s safety culture through daily messages and training, enforce company policies, and ensure DOT compliance and safety requirements are met.
• Logistics & Problem Resolution: Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement for safe and on-time service, and resolve service issues with drivers, customers, and personnel as they arise.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Experience: One year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or a related field, or equivalent military experience (if not possessing a Bachelor’s degree).
• Skills: Ability to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable; capacity to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed; willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team; ability to anticipate, recognize, and effectively resolve conflicts; strong analytical skills to reach productive decisions; adaptability to changing environments; capacity to establish and maintain healthy working relationships; effective communication skills to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas; proficiency in recognizing and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems.
