Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., a prominent company in the transportation and logistics industry. This position is essential for developing future operational leaders who will ensure the safe and timely movement of freight. The Manager Trainee will learn to manage critical aspects of fleet operations, driver compliance, and customer service, directly impacting the company’s efficiency and reliability in delivering freight nationwide.

• Pay: $46100–$69100 yearly
• Mission: Learn to manage small driver counts and/or non-traditional shifts to ensure safe and timely freight movement while providing excellent customer service.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Relationship Building: Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up, minimize turnover, and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Operational Optimization: Become proficient in maximizing the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, making recommendations for continuous improvement and measuring key performance indicators.
• Resource Management: Gain knowledge on how to manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and the assignment of drivers to balance equipment in the market.
• Administrative Oversight: Learn to perform various administrative duties such as payroll, management of the Net-Revenue budget, driver counseling, accident reviews, and creating operational or financial reports.
• Safety & Compliance: Learn to maintain the Company’s safety culture through daily safety messages, briefings, training, and enforcing company policies to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are met.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Experience: High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or a related field, and/or equivalent military experience. Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations, and ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Skills: Ability to anticipate, recognize, and effectively deal with conflicts; ability to accurately analyze situations for productive decisions; adaptability to changing environments; capacity to establish and maintain healthy working relationships; effective transmission and interpretation of ideas.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team, ability to meet or exceed team/driver needs and expectations, and ability to recognize, anticipate, and resolve organizational or operational problems.
