Manager In Training | Hibbett

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Hibbett, located in Madison, IN. Hibbett is a prominent retailer specializing in athletic apparel and footwear, operating stores across the country. This position is vital for the smooth functioning of store operations, ensuring both administrative tasks and customer service goals are met effectively. The Manager in Training supports the Store Manager in day-to-day duties, maintains operational standards, and steps into a leadership role when needed, directly contributing to the store’s profitability and reputation.

• Team: Reports to the Store Manager and supervises employees in their absence.
• Mission: Assists the Store Manager in operational and administrative duties to achieve store goals, profitability, and uphold customer service standards.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Oversight: Assist the Store Manager in managing overall store operations and administrative duties, which includes consulting on action plans for departmental responsibilities like selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Leadership & Supervision: Assume full responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence, performing supervisory duties such as planning, assigning, and directing work for employees, and resolving issues in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
• Profitability Management: Monitor inventory levels, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure financial profitability across all departments, and consistently keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and emerging customer trends.
• Customer Service Excellence: Provide extraordinary customer service as outlined in company manuals, assisting customers promptly upon entry and during peak periods, while actively promoting and selling Hibbett | City Gear merchandise and services.
• Policy & Asset Protection: Practice and uphold all Hibbett | City Gear policies, procedures, and standards detailed in various operations, personnel, and visual manuals, while also safeguarding company assets and financial information through internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires a professional with foundational knowledge of retail operations and a focus on customer service standards.
• Experience: 1-3 years of customer service experience. Prior experience within a retail environment, especially involving footwear and athletic apparel, is preferred.
• Skills: Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrates strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision; and acts as a self-starter who takes initiative on important tasks.
• Bonus: An ability to assist in managing a team and track progress toward overall goals and profits.
