Manager, Data Initiatives | Scotiabank

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze and Interpret Data: Conduct in-depth analysis of data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, then investigate and resolve data-related issues with technical teams.
• Ensure Data Quality: Profile data, perform data quality checks, identify data integrity issues, and develop and implement data quality rules and monitoring processes while documenting data sources and definitions.
• Support Data Governance: Contribute to the development and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and procedures, working with data owners to define data definitions and business rules.
• Report and Visualize Insights: Create clear, concise, and informative reports and dashboards using data visualization tools to communicate data insights and key metrics to stakeholders effectively.
• Collaborate and Train: Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and other team members to understand data requirements and implement data solutions, also providing training and support to business users on data access and quality tools.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Economic, or a related technical discipline with a focus in Data Analytics and AI, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience: 3+ years with data management tools and query/processing languages (SQL, Python); 2+ years with data analytics and visualization tools (Power BI); 1+ year with public cloud environments (GCP, Databricks, Azure) developing data quality programs; relevant industry experience in Investment Management Operations, Asset Management, Wealth Management, or Insurance, preferably in a leadership role; experience leading technology and/or business delivery initiatives in large, complex organizations, preferably within financial services or data and AI environments; and experience implementing a data catalog, quality, and profiling tool.
• Skills: SQL, Python, Power BI, GCP, Databricks, Azure, data analysis, data quality management, data governance, and data visualization.
• Bonus: CFA enrollment or other certifications in programming languages such as Python or SQL.
