Management Trainee – Operations | Indiana Packers Corporation

The Tone:
This is a 24-week rotating program at Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC), located in Delphi, Indiana. IPC is a fresh pork processor and a fully integrated retail, food service, and private label producer of fresh and processed meats. This program offers exceptional hands-on exposure to the inner workings of a mid-sized pork processing facility. The role is critical for developing future front-line Supervisors who will lead operational activities within the company.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Learn all departments within the facility to gain a solid understanding of operations and prepare for a front-line Supervisor position.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn: Master assigned operational areas across all departments within the facility.
• Communicate: Engage with department leaders regarding training, performance, discipline, compliance, employee motivation, and development.
• Direct: Guide departmental activities to achieve established safety, quality, and production targets.
• Record: Accurately document daily operational data, including equipment downtime, product audits, employee job rotations, and yield tracking.
• Solve: Identify solutions independently with very little supervision to address operational challenges.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Recent college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Operations Management, Food Science, Agribusiness, or a related field from an accredited college. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: No specific years required. Must possess strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products, along with the ability to learn and utilize enterprise software and database reporting tools.
• Skills: Excellent communication skills (ability to read, write, and speak English effectively), exemplary interpersonal skills to deal effectively with people, ability to work independently, strong ethics and professionalism, and capacity to multi-task while resourceful in accomplishing tasks.
• Bonus: Willingness to work daily or weekly overtime.
