Job Description: Machine Learning Intern
Mission: Play a vital role in reinventing the way the world pays and gets paid by shaping AI-driven solutions at PayPal.
Key Responsibilities:
• Model Development and Deployment: Design, develop, implement, and deploy predictive models using techniques like neural networks, decision trees, and ensemble methods.
• Data Analysis: Work with large, diverse datasets to extract insights, manipulate data for analysis, and cover a wide range of business domains.
• Collaboration and Innovation: Collaborate with machine learning scientists and engineers to experiment with and implement advanced algorithms for solving real-world problems.
• Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicate complex concepts and insights through visualizations and reports to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Continuously monitor model performance and make necessary improvements.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Technical Skills: Solid understanding of fundamental machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques, including neural networks, ensemble methods (bagging, boosting), and more.
• Problem Solving and Communication: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Experience: Prior experience with machine learning through research or applied projects is highly valued.
• Programming Proficiency: Proficiency in programming languages and tools for data processing, model building, and analysis, such as Python, SQL (BigQuery/Hive/Spark), and Bash.
Internship Program Details:
• Program Dates: Summer 2025
• Eligibility: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
• Location: Must reside in the US during the Summer internship program.
• Authorization: Must be able to obtain authorization to work in the US for the summer.
• Work Model: PayPal’s balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.
