This is an internship at Long Island Strong Schools Alliance, located in the New York City Metropolitan Area (primarily remote with occasional in-person activities on Long Island). LISSA is an education-focused not-for-profit dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within schools and communities. This role is crucial for supporting LISSA’s mission by contributing to various projects, gaining valuable experience, and directly impacting communities across Long Island through an open and transparent culture. Interns are encouraged to speak their mind and bring their best ideas to the table, working closely with LISSA’s leaders.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate: Social media presence and outreach activities.
• Manage: Incoming and outgoing email communications.
• Support: Planning and participation in workshops and community events.
• Conduct: Research activities focused on Long Island school district demographics, culture, diversity, and hiring practices.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students from any major, seeking experience in an education-focused not-for-profit.
• Experience: A track record demonstrating reliability and professionalism in past academic or work settings.
• Skills: Strong writing skills; effective teamwork and communication abilities.
• Bonus: Prior experience managing or contributing to social media.
