Logistics Technician | Microsoft
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Microsoft, located in US Data Center Location(s), requiring 12-hour shifts that may include non-standard business hours and up to 25% travel. Microsoft builds and powers cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform, supported by a global infrastructure of over 200 data centers. This role is crucial for delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services by ensuring efficient and secure logistics, inventory management, and device destruction within their vast cloud operations.

• Mission: Ensure efficient and secure management of IT inventory and logistics to support Microsoft’s global cloud infrastructure.
• Tech Stack: RMA portals, inventory maintenance software, forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts
What You’ll Actually Do
• Inventory Management: Perform cycle audits and data corrections to ensure all inventory controls are met, reporting and reconciling discrepancies in IT inventory.
• Logistics Operations: Execute incoming and outgoing deliveries, including purchase order receiving and Rack Movement Supervisor activities, while documenting all packages accurately.
• Data Bearing Device (DBD) Destruction: Follow Service Level Agreements and Microsoft policies to destroy data bearing devices, ensuring serial numbers match database records.
• Warranty Processing: Engage suppliers to initiate warranty claims for failed vendor hardware, processing orders, packaging, shipping, and managing the return for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) devices.
• Safety & Security Coordination: Coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors and consistently engage in Task Hazard Analysis for every task to maintain and uphold safety standards.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High School Diploma combined with foundational knowledge in inventory management, retail, or warehouse operations.
• Experience: A minimum of 6 months experience or an internship in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Skills: Working knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices, proficiency in data entry and documentation for inbound/outbound logistics, and adherence to security and data management policies.
• Bonus: 2+ years of experience in warehouse/supply chain within an information technology (IT) environment, IT, and/or logistics, including experience operating heavy-load movement equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or chassis lifts for a large corporation, or equivalent experience.
