Level 1 Technician (Helper) – Data Center

TEKsystems is seeking a highly motivated and trainable individual to join our team as a Level 1 Technician. This is an entry-level contract position based in Lenoir, NC, offering a fantastic opportunity to kickstart a career in the telecom industry within a fast-paced data center environment. While extensive telecom experience isn’t required, a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and proven dependability are paramount.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a physically demanding role and possess a commitment to learning. We are looking for individuals with a background in physically challenging jobs, demonstrating the resilience and stamina needed for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with the pulling and routing of various types of cable on site.
• Stacking and drilling racks together according to specifications.
• Performing meticulous labeling of cables and equipment.
• Assisting with porting activities as directed.
• Working collaboratively with a team to ensure project completion.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Trainability: Eagerness and aptitude to learn new skills and procedures in the telecommunications field.
• Work Ethic & Attitude: A strong commitment to hard work, a positive demeanor, and the ability to work effectively within a team at a data center.
• Dependability & Attendance: Crucial for success in this role, requiring consistent presence and punctuality.
• Physical Stamina: Experience working in physically demanding roles in the past is highly valued.
• Prior telecom experience is a plus but not a requirement for this entry-level role.

Required Skills:

• Experience with hand and power tools.
• General understanding or experience with cabling concepts.
• Background in construction or similar physically demanding environments.
• Exposure to electrical wiring or low-voltage systems is beneficial.
• Ability to perform cable pulling tasks.
• Experience in the military is a plus, demonstrating discipline and work ethic.
• Familiarity with installation processes.

• Pay Range: $20.00 – $21.00/hr
