Legal Administrative Assistant | Turney LG

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at Turney LG, located in Kansas City, MO. Turney LG provides litigation leadership for companies facing complex legal disputes across Missouri and Kansas, supporting clients throughout the full life cycle of a case. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient daily litigation and pre-suit activities, directly supporting attorneys and legal staff in delivering favorable resolutions and managing case progression. Team members are encouraged to participate in professional associations and the firm regularly contributes trial-related content, fostering growth and engagement in the broader litigation community.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Management: Prepare, format, and organize legal documents and correspondence to support litigation and pre-suit activities.
• Case File & Calendar Oversight: Maintain case files, calendars, and deadlines to ensure timely progression of matters.
• Court Coordination: Coordinate court filings and service of documents, adhering to procedural requirements.
• Communication & Scheduling: Manage phone calls and emails, schedule meetings, hearings, and travel, and assist with client communication and intake.
• Operational Support: Support billing and time entry processes, maintain internal databases, and help ensure efficient office operations and compliance with firm procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Knowledge of law and litigation processes, with familiarity in court procedures or legal terminology.
• Experience: Administrative assistance experience, including scheduling, file management, data entry, and support of office operations.
• Skills: Legal document preparation (drafting, formatting, proofreading, organizing pleadings and correspondence), strong communication abilities (clear written and verbal communication), organization skills (attention to detail, time management, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines), proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, PDF tools), and demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Bonus: Prior experience in a law firm or legal environment; an associate degree, paralegal certificate, or comparable education is beneficial.
