Job Description
This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position within the area of Human Nutrition and Food. The successful candidate will play a dual role, combining teaching responsibilities with the directorship of the Dietetic Internship (DI) Program.
Responsibilities
The Lecturer I will have the following key responsibilities:
• Teach courses in dietetics that support both the subject of Human Nutrition and Food and the Dietetic Internship program.
• Serve as Director of the Dietetic Internship (DI) Program (50%), with comprehensive responsibilities including:
• Developing policy and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program.
• Providing recruitment, advisement, evaluation, registration duties, and counseling to interns.
• Maintaining program accreditation, including timely submission of fees, reports, and requests/updates for major program changes to ACEND as needed.
• Conducting the ACEND Program Assessment Report of accreditation standards and submitting it by a stipulated date.
• Reviewing and documenting yearly pass rate results and making changes as necessary.
• Establishing an ongoing review of the program’s curriculum to meet the accreditation standards.
• Communicating and coordinating with program faculty, preceptors, and others involved with the program.
• Facilitating processes for continuous program evaluation and student learning outcomes assessment.
• Submitting required documentation supporting the graduate’s eligibility for a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam promptly.
• Monitoring student activities on-site while also supervising rotation sites and computer matching for the interns.
• Maintaining the program’s interns’ records, including intern advising plans and verification statements.
• Managing complaints about the program received from interns or others, including the disposition of the complaint.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
• M.S. in Nutritional Sciences, Clinical Nutrition, or related areas.
• One to two years of undergraduate teaching experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to coordinate a DI program.
• Demonstrated proficiency in effective teaching.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication skills.
Required Registration & Licenses
• Registered Dietitian (RD); OR
• Eligible to be credentialed to practice in the State of Texas (the hire must be credentialed within six months of appointment).
