The Tone:
This is an internship at Kings Dominion & Soak City, located in Doswell, VA. Kings Dominion & Soak City is Virginia’s premier destination for fun, offering over 60 world-class rides, live shows, unique attractions, water slides, and special events throughout the season. This program provides a lifetime opportunity for college students and recent graduates to gain practical hands-on experience, make lasting friendships, boost their resumes, and grow their skills and knowledge within the theme park industry.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Seasonal Program (minimum 24 hours/week)
• Location: In-person, Doswell, VA
• Mission: To provide college students and recent graduates with hands-on experience and professional development within the theme park industry.
What You’ll Actually Do
• On-the-Job Learning: Gain first-hand experience and knowledge by working directly within your assigned field or department.
• Professional Development: Participate in leadership training classes and business seminars led by park management to expand your knowledge of theme park operations.
• Networking: Meet and build relationships with fellow college interns, as well as engage directly with park leaders and management.
• Capstone Project: Complete a comprehensive capstone project that involves interviewing and interacting with leadership across various park areas.
• Front-Line Operations: Serve in a front-line position within one of the following divisions: Food & Beverage/Culinary, Human Resources, Operations (Admissions, Aquatics, Park Services, Rides), or Retail (Merchandise, Games, Extra Charge).
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a college degree or a recent graduate (within 180 days of the program start date). Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience: Demonstrated commitment to completing all internship program requirements and working onsite for a minimum of 24 hours per week.
• Skills: Ability to attend internship program activities and work on weekends/peak days. Comfort and adaptability with working in diverse indoor and outdoor environments, including various weather conditions such as rain, heat, snow, and wind.
