Summer 2027 Key Investment Services Internship (Certified Financial Planner Track) | KeyBank

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at KeyBank, located in Boise, ID. KeyBank operates as a 23,417-person organization through its Key Investment Services LLC (KIS) arm, which functions as a FINRA registered broker/dealer and SEC registered investment advisory firm, partnering with KeyCorp Insurance Agency USA Inc. This internship provides meaningful exposure to the wealth management industry, supporting KIS’s mission to offer investment guidance, planning services, and products to help customers manage retirement, education savings, tax planning, and wealth transfer. Interns will engage in impactful work, receive coaching, and participate in events designed to foster professional growth and interest in a long-term career at Key.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Partnership: Partner with a KIS Private Client Advisor to gain direct experience in the wealth management industry.
• Client Support: Participate in client discovery and financial planning activities, including data entry and analysis, to assist with customer needs.
• Relationship Development: Develop client relationships and refine interpersonal communication skills through various interactions.
• Project Collaboration: Collaborate on a Capstone Group Project designed to address real-world industry topics and challenges.
• Administrative Assistance: Observe client meetings, assist with basic administrative tasks, digitize client files, and support planning for client events.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a four-year or graduate-level degree by May 2029 with focused coursework in finance, accounting, economics, and/or data science.
• Experience: Demonstrated leadership and teamwork through past work experience and/or extracurricular activities, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, effective communication (verbal and written), proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to build client relationships.
• Bonus: Participation in the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program and completion of the CFP exam prior to graduation is preferred for candidates interested in a Financial Advisor career.
