Junior Staff Accountant | Addition Management

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Addition Management, located in New York, NY. Addition Management is recruiting for a Junior Staff Accountant to join the team of a NYC-based Savings Bank. This position is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Your contributions will directly impact the financial health and operational efficiency of the bank and its subsidiaries.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Accuracy: Record journal entries accurately and prepare thorough account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Reporting & Analysis: Assist in crucial month-end closing procedures, contribute to financial reporting, and perform variance analysis to highlight key financial trends.
• Asset & Lease Administration: Maintain the bank’s fixed asset accounting, encompassing the recording of newly acquired assets, tracking existing assets, and accurately recording depreciation; simultaneously manage the company’s lease accounting by reviewing documents, recording new leases, and preparing necessary supporting schedules.
• Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Prepare assigned quarterly Call Report schedules, manage annual real estate tax protest processes, complete annual RPIE (Real Property Income Expense), and file monthly Sales Tax and quarterly commercial rent tax returns.
• Operational Support: Provide essential support for both internal and external audits by supplying financial information and analysis, and assist in the resolution of any identified issues; serve as a backup for Accounts Payable and Secondary Market functions to ensure continuous operational flow.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; entry-level understanding of core financial accounting principles and concepts.
• Experience: Proven proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Skills: Strong ability to set and meet deadlines while managing and completing multiple tasks; demonstrated capability in data mining, analysis, and reporting.
