The Role: Junior Property Accountant

The Junior Property Accountant is responsible for supporting crucial daily operations within the Property Accounting Department. This includes assisting with the monthly reporting process, recording tenant ledger transactions, owner communications, and the bank reconciliation process. This role is vital for maintaining efficient accounting operations for our rapidly growing portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot utility billing issues directly with utility companies.
• Print and mail rent increase letters on a monthly basis.
• Process tenant security deposit refunds.
• Receive and respond to tenant ledger inquiries.
• Record tenant ledger transactions, including charges, credits, and payments.
• Assist Property Accountants with accounting-related requests received from property owners.
• Assist in the month-end close process, including report preparation.
• Refreshing of the month-end reports.
• Daily/weekly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare the monthly bank reconciliations for review.
• GPR (Gross Potential Rent) postings.
• Owner distribution for review by accountants as needed.
• Other ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of accounting experience, preferably in real estate accounting.
• Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and real estate accounting principles.
  • Appfolio experience preferred.
  • Accrual-based institutional financial reporting experience preferred.
• Skills:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $30-$32/hr
