The TL;DR

• Team: Works closely with and under the supervision of experienced groomers.
• Mission: To learn and perform fundamental grooming services, prioritizing pet comfort and safety, and assist seasoned groomers in delivering optimal customer service to pet parents.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn and perform limited grooming services, including bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, under the close supervision of experienced groomers.
• Consistently ensure the well-being and safety of every animal entrusted to the salon at all times throughout the grooming process.
• Interact professionally and effectively with pet parents, providing optimal customer service, addressing grooming-related inquiries, and offering timely resolutions.
• Maintain a clean and safe grooming environment by regularly disinfecting and sanitizing grooming tools and equipment, performing assigned daily and weekly cleaning duties, and adhering to Petco’s hygiene and sanitation policies.
• Accurately schedule grooming appointments, manage necessary paperwork, and maintain detailed grooming records for all pets.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. A genuine passion for animals and a desire to pursue a career in pet grooming.
• Experience: 0-1 year of animal-related experience, such as shelter volunteering or pet sitting.
• Skills: Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy; effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with pet parents and team members; basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices; and availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
• Bonus: High-school diploma or GED preferred; prior grooming salon assistance is preferred.
