Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., an organization committed to moving freight safely and efficiently. As a Manager Trainee, you will learn the fundamental operations of managing a small driver count or non-traditional shifts. This position is vital for ensuring the safe and timely movement of freight, optimal load assignment, and delivering excellent customer service to support the company’s core transport services.

• Mission: Learn to manage driver operations, freight movement, and customer service to ensure safe, timely, and profitable transport services.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Driver & Carrier Relations: Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure seamless setup and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Personnel Training & Management: Learn to utilize personnel management techniques, including training and orienting drivers and employees on internal and customer systems.
• Fleet Optimization & Reporting: Become proficient in maximizing the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, making recommendations for continuous improvement, and presenting customer-specific reports.
• Administrative & Financial Management: Learn to perform administrative duties such as payroll, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, and analyzing P&L statements.
• Freight Planning & Monitoring: Learn to assign loads, plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Experience: If no Bachelor’s degree, a High School Diploma/GED with at least 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience. Must be willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations, work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends, and be willing to regionally relocate.
• Skills: Ability to anticipate, recognize, and effectively deal with existing or potential conflicts, accurately analyze situations to reach productive decisions, adapt to changing environments, establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers, and effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team, and the ability to recognize, anticipate, and resolve organizational, operational, or process problems.
