• Mission: To learn fundamental grooming tasks, prioritize pet safety and well-being, and deliver optimal customer service to pet parents.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Master Grooming Fundamentals: Participate in a ten-week training program to learn and perform limited grooming services, including bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, under the close supervision of experienced groomers.
• Prioritize Pet Well-being: Ensure the absolute well-being and safety of every animal in the salon at all times, handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Deliver Exceptional Service: Interact professionally and effectively with pet parents, providing optimal customer service, addressing grooming-related inquiries, and ensuring timely resolution.
• Uphold Salon Hygiene: Maintain a clean and safe grooming area and salon by disinfecting and sanitizing grooming tools and equipment, and performing daily and weekly cleaning duties as assigned.
• Manage Operations & Compliance: Schedule grooming appointments, manage paperwork, maintain accurate grooming records, and adhere to Petco’s grooming policies and standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. A genuine passion for animals and a strong desire to pursue a career in pet grooming, with a basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices. A high-school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Experience: 0-1 year of animal related experience, such as shelter volunteering or pet sitting.
• Skills:
1. Pet Handling: Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
2. Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and team members.
3. Dog Knowledge: Basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices.
• Bonus: Prior grooming salon assistance; availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by the Pet Care Center’s grooming schedule.
