What You’ll Actually Do
• Foundational Grooming: Learn to perform limited grooming services including bathing, drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning under the close supervision of seasoned groomers, adhering strictly to pet parents’ instructions and company policies.
• Pet Safety & Comfort: Prioritize and ensure the well-being and safety of every animal in the salon at all times, handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Customer Engagement: Interact professionally and effectively with pet parents, providing optimal customer service by addressing grooming-related inquiries and delivering timely resolutions.
• Salon Hygiene: Maintain a clean and safe grooming area and salon by regularly disinfecting and sanitizing grooming tools and equipment, and performing daily and weekly cleaning duties as assigned, including cleaning air filters, vents, and drains.
• Administrative Support: Manage grooming appointment schedules, handle necessary paperwork, and accurately maintain grooming records in accordance with company standards.
• Policy Adherence: Learn and consistently adhere to Petco’s comprehensive grooming policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure safety, quality, and consistency across all aspects of the grooming business.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career level role. A high-school diploma or GED is preferred but not required. A genuine passion for animals and a clear desire to pursue a career in pet grooming are essential.
• Experience: 0-1 year of experience related to animals, which can include shelter volunteering or pet sitting.
• Skills: Capability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy, effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with pet parents and team, and a basic understanding of dog breeds and behavior.
• Bonus: Prior grooming salon assistance is preferred, and availability to work during weekends, evenings, and holidays according to the Pet Care Center’s grooming schedule.
