The TL;DR

• Location: Various Petco Stores
• Pay: $10.00–$19.50 hourly
• Team: Reports to experienced groomers within the grooming salon team.
• Mission: To enable pets to live their best lives by learning fundamental grooming services and ensuring their comfort and safety.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn and perform grooming services: Under close supervision, perform limited grooming tasks such as bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, adhering to pet parent instructions and company policies.
• Prioritize pet safety and well-being: Consistently ensure the well-being and safety of every animal in the salon at all times throughout the grooming process.
• Deliver excellent customer service: Interact professionally with pet parents, providing optimal service, addressing inquiries, and ensuring timely resolution for grooming-related matters.
• Maintain salon hygiene and equipment: Keep the grooming area and salon clean and safe, disinfecting tools and equipment, and performing daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Manage grooming appointments and records: Schedule appointments, handle necessary paperwork, and maintain accurate records of grooming services for pets.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career with a genuine passion for animals and a desire to pursue a career in pet grooming; 0-1 year of animal-related experience (e.g., shelter volunteering, pet sitting).
• Experience: Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Skills: Basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices; effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with pet parents and team members; availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Bonus: Prior grooming salon assistance or a high-school diploma/GED is preferred.
